AMAZE Charitable Trust and NALS Announce 4rth Adventure camp for Special Children/Persons and their Families
This
camp is specially organized for families of children with intellectual
disabilities, which includes the special child accompanied by parents,
caretakers, siblings, grandparents (!!), or any other adults/children who would
like to join in the experience !!
In
April for the past 3 years , some families of children with intellectual
disabilities spent 2days /2 nights at the NALS campus in Colacumby/Manjakombe ,
Nilgiris. There is a lot of bonding between the families that happens in the
camp and relationships are formed that last beyond the camp ......
It was
a wonderful experience and there a many enquiries so this year we are having a
second camp.
During
our stay at the campsite, NALS is committed to give us a good time by exposing
us to rope activities , rock climbing , rappelling group games and trekking around the campus. http://www.nals.in/
Camp dates: 18/19/20 October 2013 [Two
nights]
Proposed camp schedule: We propose to reach the campsite @ 5.00 pm on
Friday, 18 October 2013, and leave the campsite @ 5.00 pm on Sunday, 20 October
2013.
Camp Cost:
Adult/Child above
5 years = Rs.2900/-per person
Special Child
above 5 years = Rs.1500/- per child
Any child below 5
years = FREE
If family is unable
to accompany the special person we can
arrange for trained aides to take care of the person –Please indicate clearly
in your response if you need a aide for your ward .He/she should be able to
communicate his/her basic needs through any mode .
Cost of Aide will be Rs 2,900/-
The
cost includes full meals, snacks, dormitory type accommodation and guided out-door
activities for 2 two full days. The cost does not include the transport to and
from the campsite. For the journey from Coimbatore to Manjakombe and back, we propose to hire a bus and share
the cost. Please confirm participation early enough so that bus with adequate
seating capacity can be arranged. There is limited accommodation available,
hence we request you confirm early.

Who can participate?
ü Special child/adult accompanied with parents, caretakers, siblings,

Proposed camp schedule: We propose to reach the campsite @ 4.00 pm on
Friday, 1 March 2013, and leave the campsite @ 4.00 pm on Sunday, 3 March 2013.
Camp Cost:

Any child below 5 years = FREE

2nd Adventure camp for Children with Intellectual disabilities and Families
This camp is specially organized for families of children with intellectual disabilities, which includes the special child accompanied with parents, caretakers, siblings, grandparents (!!), or any other adults/children who would like to join in the experience !!
Last year, in April, some families of children with intellectual disabilities spent 1 night at the NALS campus in Colacumby, Nilgiris. It was a wonderful experience and we all resolved to return back again this year, for 2 night stay. NALS, the organizers, have confirmed the dates for this year too. This year we will be spending 2 nights on the campus which gives us all 24 hours more to bond, and experience a lot more of the outdoors. Furthermore we will all be together as one extended family.

Adventure camp for children with Intellectual disabilities and their families
Purpose: To provide a wholesome outdoor experience that will unleash the potential of our special needs children and improve family bonding
NALS Colacumby campus is a 650 acre bio-diversity situated 26 kms SW of Coonoor, Nilgiris. Primarily a tea + coffee plantation, the campus boasts variety of spices, fruits, vegetation, other flora and fauna. For the adventure and nature lover, the rocks, streams, jungles, primary forests and trek routes provide an excellent setting.
The estate belongs to the Colacumby group and NALS runs the outdoor adventure and experiential learning programs.
Proposed date: 23/24 April 2011 [One night]

1:30 pm Report at Sri Prashanthi Academy Coimbatore
2:00pm Leave for Coonoor in shared transport
4:00pm Reach NALS campsite in Coonoor

Cost: NALS is offering special rate of Rs. 1000 per person (Child below 6 years of age is complimentary) [Usual rate is Rs 1500 per head for one night]
The cost includes dormitory accommodation, vegetarian meals, tea + snacks, adventure activity and equipment.
Transport to and from campus is excluded.
Transportation from Coimbatore – Coonoor – Coimbatore will be extra on a shared basis based on number of people registering.
